The provision is good
The childminder places a clear emphasis on supporting children's emotional well- being to help them develop a strong sense of belonging. As a result, babies form close bonds with the childminder, which helps them feel safe and secure. Babies are happy, content and show delight, when the childminder interacts with them. Babies settle quickly because the childminder provides parents with individual support, ensuring babies have a successful transition into her home. For example, the childminder gains a wealth of information from parents regarding children's development, sleep, and feeding routines. She has informative conversations with parents on a daily basis. Parents are full of praise and comment how pleased they are with the way their children settle and bond with the childminder. The childminder consistently supports young children's emerging language and communication skills. For example, she introduces new words, phrases, and sings a

range of songs and rhymes. Babies respond by making eye contact and early communication sounds, such as cooing and smiling.

need to do better?
n The childminder talks in a gentle soothing manner, which draws young babies' attention. The childminder provides a range of appropriate toys and resources for children of all ages, both indoors and in her well-organised garden. However, she does not provide children with enough opportunities to help them learn about their own culture and to appreciate the diversity in the world they live in. The childminder successfully develops babies' early listening and attention skills. For instance, she uses a range of textured and musical toys that make a variety of sounds. Babies respond by turning their face from side to side in curiosity to see where the sounds come from. n Young children's physical development is equally well nurtured. For example, babies gaze in fascination and explore their surroundings as they try to stretch their arms and kick their legs in excitement to reach toys on a floor mat. This

promotes babies' motor skills and muscle development well. The childminder regularly monitors children's progress, which means that she clearly identifies and plans for their next stage in learning. n The childminder has developed positive partnerships with parents and professionals, which promotes children's well-being. The childminder's self- evaluation is effective and continuous. She is proactive and has completed recent training courses. However, she has yet to devise a plan to develop her knowledge and understanding further in all areas of the early years foundation stage.
p.2
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder has a sound understanding of child protection issues. She is confident about the procedures to follow, should she have any concerns about a child's well-being. The childminder ensures that she updates her training in first aid and safeguarding, including wider safeguarding issues, such as extremism. The childminder's home is safe and secure. Effective risk assessments are in place. For example, the childminder undertakes regular checks of all areas and equipment to minimise any potential hazards in her home.
