p.1
Enforcement action since last inspection:
A monitoring visit took place on 14 September 2021 to review the progress made and to monitor the requirements. These requirements were served following shortfalls identified by the inspector at the home’s first inspection on 3 August 2021, which resulted in Ofsted suspending the home. The concerns were in relation to the leadership and management of the home and the safeguarding of the one child living in the home. Inspection report children’s home: 2632917 3

p.3
improvement to be good
Since the home’s first full inspection on 3 August 2021 no children have lived in the home. A monitoring visit on 14 September 2021 recognised the good progress that the manager and her staff team had made to address the shortfalls.
p.4
improvement to be good
During this time, the registered manager and her staff team have worked well together to redecorate some parts of the home and garden. This means children will live in a very comfortable and well-designed home. Time has been spent to make the garden a safe and playful environment.
p.4
improvement to be good
The manager and staff have used this period to reflect on how best to utilise the provider’s therapeutic services. Records capture constructive discussions within the team that have led to the review of practice. This means that children who live in the home will have good access to art and play therapy and staff can feel better supported.
p.4
improvement to be good
The inspector learned that the staff and the manager have used their time effectively while no children have been living in the home. By continuing to work across some of the provider’s children’s homes, the staff have remained up to date with their practice.
p.4
improvement to be good
There have been no safeguarding incidents or incidents of concern since the previous inspection. However, where relevant, staff have continued to complete all necessary training. This ensures that all staff can respond to children when they are upset or worried.
p.4
improvement to be good
The manager and staff team have worked together to review and revise templates used to record incidents. This will enable the staff to better capture the detail and how the child has been supported.
p.4
improvement to be good
The inspector found the home environment to be safe and in a good decorative state.
p.4
good
Despite no children living in the home since the full inspection in August 2021, the registered manager has continued, with her staff team, to work hard to ensure they are all ready to look after another child. The manager leads her team with enthusiasm and a dedication to improve the outcomes for children. Inspection report children’s home: 2632917 5 Team meetings are held regularly and provide the staff team with opportunities to come together and reflect on their learning and practice.
p.4
good
The manager has provided the staff team with regular supervision. The inspector found minutes of the supervision sessions to be detailed and comprehensive. They evidence well the compassion shown and the support that the manager has provided to each member of staff during a very challenging period.
p.5
good
Since the previous inspection, there have been a few staff changes. Recruitment continues, but remains a challenge. There is currently sufficient staff to look after one child.
p.5
