p.1
Information about this children’s home
This registered children’s home operates as a short-break service and is run by a local authority. It provides care for up to four children with learning disabilities.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The registered manager has left. A new manager is working in the home and has not yet applied to register.
p.1
This monitoring visit
During a full inspection on 16 August 2021, Ofsted judged the home to be inadequate. Serious failures in staffing arrangements, vetting of agency workers, and restraint oversight and recording practices were identified. At the full inspection, seven requirements were raised. A further monitoring visit was completed on the 5 October 2021. Six requirements raised at the August inspection were found to not be met and a compliance notice was served. This monitoring visit is to review the progress in respect of the compliance notice.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A new manager has been recruited and intends to register with Ofsted soon. Senior leaders and managers are taking effective action to address the shortfalls identified in August. The child has moved to another home. They are cared for by a combination of staff from the home and agency staff. The required recruitment checks are in the process of completion for all staff working with the child.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Training for staff has been sourced and is in the process of being delivered to ensure all staff have the skills to meet the needs of the child. Recording systems have been strengthened. However, as the child is no longer in the home, these changes are not yet embedded. Similarly, the embedding of management oversight regarding physical interventions and practice cannot currently be seen. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC040132 2 No children are currently staying at the home. There is a clear plan to develop the home in readiness for returning to a short-breaks service in the early part of next year. This includes ensuring that all areas of the home are accessible for wheelchairs. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC040132 3
