p.1
The provision is good
Children thoroughly enjoy their time in the childminder's warm and welcoming home. Children are secure in their familiar routines. The childminder and her assistants are highly responsive to children's needs. Children are comfortable, happy and ready to enjoy the activities on offer.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder organises her home very effectively to encourage children to explore and to develop their curiosity. Children make independent choices and enjoy leading their own play. For example, children have fun and laugh as they plunge their hands into shaving foam and spread it over different surfaces outdoors. They find out about different textures and develop good mark-making skills. They eagerly talk about what different materials feel like, which extends their growing vocabulary. For example, they describe the materials as 'squishy'.
p.2
The provision is good
Children behave well. They share toys and play happily together. The childminder and her assistants are good role models. They treat children with consideration and talk to them about the importance of using good manners.
p.2
The provision is good
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the childminder has not been able to visit places of interest in the local area. However, this has had little impact on children's development and has led to the childminder developing more outdoor activities at home. Children have access to daily fresh air and develop good-physical skills.

need to do better?
n The childminder works well with her assistants to help children to move on in their learning. They work as an effective team and this gives consistency to children's learning and development. Children build on what they already know and can do. The childminder provides strong support to her assistants. She consistently models good practice, and the assistants receive regular training to develop their knowledge and skills. n The dedicated childminder has a strong vision for her setting and evaluates her practice well. This enables her to continually make improvements, such as developing new resources to inspire children's learning. She is experienced in childcare and is keen to extend her own professional development even further. The childminder attends any specialist training to support individual children in her care, when necessary. She works in effective partnership with other professionals to help all children to reach their full potential.
p.2
need to do better?
n Children communicate confidently and develop good speaking and listening skills. The childminder and her assistants encourage children to talk, for example, about characters from familiar books. Children enjoy retelling the story 'Room on the Broom' and act out the story with support and encouragement.

need to do better?
10 November 2021 n The childminder encourages children to follow healthy lifestyles. For example, children have a go at brushing their teeth after snacks. She talks to children and parents about healthy eating and exercise. However, she does not consistently ensure that all snacks provided by parents are healthy and nutritious. This means that children are not receiving consistent messages about healthy eating. n The childminder and her assistants know children well. They know what children are capable of and what they need to learn next. They continually interact positively with children as they play and explore. However, some adult-guided activities are not planned well enough to engage all children and enhance their learning. n Partnerships with parents are strong. Parents speak very highly of the childminder and appreciate the good communication she provides about children's progress. In particular, parents comment about the warm and

nurturing care their children receive with the childminder.

p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder keeps her knowledge of safeguarding up to date and ensures that her assistants have a firm understanding of child protection procedures. She is aware of her responsibilities to keep children safe from harm and is clear about the signs and symptoms of abuse. The childminder and her assistants help children to learn how to keep themselves safe. For example, they encourage children to cover their mouths when they cough, so they do not spread germs. They supervise children extremely conscientiously to ensure that they are safe and secure at all times.

n plan adult-led activities more effectively to keep all children to remain engaged to extend and to deepen their learning n work closely with parents to develop children's understanding of healthy eating further.
