p.1
The provision is good
Young children settle quickly and develop secure relationships with the childminder. They giggle and have fun with her. They enjoy snuggling in to share a book. When they become upset, the childminder quickly reassures them with a cuddle. She knows their routines and recognises when they are hungry or tired and quickly provides for their needs.
p.2
The provision is good
Parents do not come into the childminder's home when dropping off or collecting their child, to help maintain safe social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The childminder ensures they discuss all aspects of children's care and learning at other times and in other ways, such as through daily chats outside and regular messaging.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder gets down to children's level and plays and explores alongside them while encouraging their curiosity and motivating them effectively. Babies eagerly experiment with musical instruments and excitedly copy the childminder's actions. They then remember these actions later as they revisit the items by shaking rattles and banging their hands on a drum while smiling proudly at their success. They listen and show respect for the childminder and what she has to say. They adapt their actions and behaviour well as she gives them reminders on safe practices. They show confidence to try new things and to develop very positive attitudes to learning and developing their skills.

n The childminder uses her observations of children as they play to assess their progress and outline any gaps in their development. She then makes plans for the resources and the support she will offer children to help them achieve the next steps in their learning. Children make good progress. n Overall, children's communication skills are progressing well. Babies excitedly babble as they explore activities, and they listen and show their understanding as they follow instructions. At times though, the childminder does not develop babies' emerging sounds and language as much as possible. For example, she does not make the most of opportunities to role model speech sounds and words clearly and consistently to them. n The childminder works closely with parents from the outset and gains lots of information to build a clear picture of children's needs. She maintains a regular two-way flow of information with them about children's care and learning. They
