p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is operated by a private company. It is registered for up to three children who may experience social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 3 and 4 August 2021, a full inspection took place due to concerns about children’s safety. Inspectors found that managers and staff do not always act to protect children from harm and that the leadership and management of the home were poor. The home was also issued with a notice to suspend its registration, which took place with immediate effect.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 14 September 2021, a monitoring visit was conducted to review the actions taken to meet the steps in the three compliance notices issued under regulation 12 (the protection of children standard), regulation 13 (leadership and management) and regulation 14 (care planning.) The provider had taken sufficient action to meet two of the compliance notices. However, a further compliance notice under regulation 14 was issued. The notice of suspension remained in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The focus of this visit was to monitor and to review the actions taken by the provider to meet the compliance notice and the notice of suspension issued.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The visit found that the provider has complied with the notice to suspend its registration and there are currently no children living in the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The deputy manager has made the decision to manage the home and is planning on applying to be the registered manager. She has spent time reviewing all Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2611667 2 documentation in the home, alongside a newly recruited assistant manager. The managers have undertaken an audit of staff training. They have identified and arranged training across the team, including around safeguarding, exploitation, recording and reporting. This will ensure that the staff responsible for children have the skills and experience to keep children safe.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leaders and managers have taken action to ensure that a robust impact risk assessment process is in place to consider the suitability of any child moving into the home. This assessment includes the needs of the child moving into the home, their compatibility with the group, the location of the home and the skill base of the staff team. This will ensure that only children who the provider can safely support will be considered prior to their arrival at the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The location risk assessment has been updated and now includes all known risks in the local area and how these risks will be mitigated. This will ensure that children are safely supported.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Managers have taken action to improve communication systems for the staff team. Team meetings and individual supervision sessions now take place to discuss staff practice and reinforce roles and responsibilities for all team members.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The provider has demonstrated at this visit that it has taken the necessary steps to ensure that the compliance notice issued under regulation 14 is met. Ofsted does not plan to take any further enforcement action. A further unannounced inspection will take place to continue to monitor the quality of care provided. The requirements will also be considered at this next visit. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2611667 3
