The provision is good
Children settle quickly when they arrive. They rush into the garden and look at the range of activities on offer for the day. Children spend lots of time outdoors, either in the garden or on a range of trips in the local community. Children have opportunities to take managed risk with adult supervision. They confidently climb trees in the garden. Children squeal with excitement as they go 'really fast' on the tyre swing.
p.2
The provision is good
Exciting learning opportunities are planned for children which follow their interests and next steps. Children offer their views about what they would like to find out about. Children display high levels of independence. They know to use hand gel to clean their hands before having snack and eating lunch. At lunchtime, children confidently serve food themselves and pour drinks. Children behave very well and say 'please' and 'thank you' without being prompted as there are high expectations.
p.2
The provision is good
Children show feelings of safety and security with the childminder. They snuggle up to adults when they feel tired. One-year-old children know the routines for nap time well. They quickly settle down and go to sleep. Children play cooperatively with their friends and begin to resolve minor conflicts, with support.

n The childminder knows the children she cares for very well. She finds out about the experiences children have at home and plans to broaden these. Children share their knowledge of growing sunflowers at home. They visit a local sunflower farm and talk about the way plants grow. For example, they know that the roots suck up the water. Back at the childminder's home, children paint pictures of sunflowers and recognise the different parts of the plant. They delight in showing their parents what they have painted. n Children learn through play and exploring. They use paintbrushes and water to make marks outside. Three-year-old children ask the childminder to write their name using chalk and try to copy. One-year-old children explore making lines. Three-year-old children extend their own learning as they ask if they can use their feet to make footprints. They compare the different sizes of footprints and

count how many there are. This contributes to children's early counting and understanding of shape, space and measure. n Children develop a love of reading. There are many opportunities throughout the day for children to engage with books. Children rush over to adults to ask them to read stories. Children show high levels of engagement and point out what they can see in the pictures. They retell stories with accuracy. One-year-old children look at books with different textures in. They turn each page carefully as they explore the books. This helps to promote children's early reading skills.

20 September 2021 n The childminder encourages children to be curious and find out more about topics of interest to them. Adults follow the children's lead in their play. Children comment that they can see a bird's nest in the tree in the garden. They wait excitedly as the childminder gets the nest down and show interest in looking at it. However, the childminder does not always encourage children to talk further to deepen their understanding. n Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the setting. They say they could not be happier and that they always feel their children are well looked after. Parents know what their child's next steps are and how they can support their children's learning at home. Parents comment that they would recommend the childminder to other parents. n The childminder has accessed a wide range of training since registration. She regularly completes observations with her co-childminder. Discussions take place

on a daily basis about what is going well with the provision and what could be improved. The childminder is committed to continuing to further her knowledge to improve her practice.

Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder is aware of the signs and symptoms of abuse. This includes if children are being exposed to extreme behaviour and views. The childminder checks her knowledge is up to date by attending regular safeguarding refresher courses. She has a clear procedure in place to act on concerns and knows who she would report them to. Daily conversations take place about children's behaviour and well-being. Any concerns are swiftly acted on. Accident records are detailed and stored securely. They are shared with parents, who sign to say they have seen them.
