p.1

This provision does not meet requirements

n Safeguarding is not effective. The childminder does not have a suitable knowledge of the early years foundation stage child protection requirements. She is not aware of the risk of female genital mutilation to a child, or any signs a child has been subjected to this. This is a breach of requirements and does not ensure children are safeguarded. n The childminder demonstrated, through discussion, how she will plan, deliver and assess children's learning to help them make good progress. She discussed how she will share information regularly with parents to ensure they are kept up to date regarding their child's progress and next steps for their learning. n The childminder understands how to encourage children's communication and language skills. She explained, for example how she would read books with children of all ages to introduce new words to build their vocabulary and ask older children questions to assess their understanding.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

n The childminder understands how to work with parents to understand their child's needs from the start. She has systems in place to help children to settle in and feel happy in her care. n The childminder provides a range of toys and activities to support all areas of the curriculum. She understands the importance of supporting children's interests and choices to make learning enjoyable for them. n The childminder knows how to help children develop positive attitudes and behaviour, such as kind play and a respect for others. n The childminder plans to provide activities to support children's health and physical development. For example, she will include daily singing and dancing, physical play provision in her garden and walks in the community. n The childminder explained how she assesses the risks to children and the measures she would put in place to prevent them from having accidents. She was operating for a short period during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic,

when she adapted her practice to keep children and families safe. n The childminder has made some improvements since the last inspection. For example, she has completed some training to learn more about the 'Prevent' duty. She has also attended training to develop her understanding of good teaching skills. However, she has not cared for children since to allow her to put this into practice.

p.2

This provision does not meet requirements

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
