p.1
The provision is good
This is a friendly setting and the childminder is caring and very attentive. Children are treated as part of the childminder's family and she welcomes them into her home with love and affection. Routines are flexible and children's needs are quickly met. For instance, prior to going outdoors, younger children indicate they would like some milk. The childminder immediately adapts the routine without hesitation. After a drink, children return to their play with refreshed vigour and enthusiasm. The childminder's sensitive interactions and caring nature helps to ensure that children are happy and ready to learn. Regular praise works well to help to build children's confidence and sense of achievement. Children try hard to please the childminder as they eagerly complete activities and tasks. They smile with pride when they hear 'well done'. Children behave well, they are self-assured and confident.
p.2
The provision is good
The childminder knows what children like and what interests them. She incorporates their preferences into play. For example, children's favourite toy dinosaurs and animals are included in many games and activities to help to enthuse and motivate them in their learning. Children use their imagination to extend games. For example, they talk about pirates and pirate ships with excitement and intrigue. Their vocabulary develops during lengthy conversations about pirates. They imagine where pirates sail to and who lives in a pirate boat. Children are imaginative, independent and have fun as they play and learn. The childminder has continued to care for children throughout the pandemic. Children are safe, confident and happy, despite the restrictions of COVID-19 (coronavirus).

need to do better?
n The curriculum is working. Teaching is effective and has an impact on what children know and can do. All children make good progress in their development. n The childminder observes children all the time and knows them well. She understands their abilities and any gaps in their learning. The childminder carefully plans activities to help children to learn new things and practise what they already know. n Children make good progress in mathematics. They are given plenty of opportunities to practise their counting skills as they play. For example, children count their teeth, confidently counting up to 10. However, sometimes children are not encouraged to count higher numbers and develop their good counting skills even further. n The childminder invests time and effort displaying resources to help to enthuse children. A variety of floor based games and tabletop activities are invitingly arranged to tempt children of all ages to explore and play. Children remain

Children of all ages participate fully and behave well. n Children do things for themselves, such as wash their hands and put their shoes on before outdoor playtime. Children are independent and self-assured. n Children have plenty of opportunities to be physical. They scoot, pedal and push ride-on toys. Children blow bubbles, jump to pop them and run around the garden, avoiding obstacles as they go. Children demonstrate age-appropriate physical skills. n Parents are enthusiastic to share their positive experiences of the childminder's setting. They comment, 'I will be forever grateful for all the childminder has

done, she goes above and beyond to care for the children and is very well at adapting to meet children's individual needs'. The childminder works hard to develop open two-way communication with parents to benefit children. The childminder shares some information with other settings children attend or move on to, however, a fully collaborative approach to children's learning and development is not established.
p.3
Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
Children are safe. The childminder confidently knows how to identify, record and report child protection concerns. She has completed relevant training on this topic and understands the importance of ensuring her knowledge is up to date. Hygiene procedures are good. The childminder cleans her home daily. This helps to reduce the risk of contamination of germs and contributes to children's good health. The childminder implements simple procedures to help to promote children's welfare and safety. For instance, she checks her home each morning and at various intervals throughout the day to identify and minimise possible hazards. Children play in a safe and secure home.
