Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good
The one child that lives here, is provided with a home that is safe and very homely, with space to grow and develop. The staff ensure that there are a variety of opportunities on a day-to-day basis for the child to learn, meet friends and have fun. Staff demonstrate an excellent understanding of the child’s likes and together they design structured, well-planned activities.
p.3
Overall experiences and progress of children and young people: good
Since the child has lived at the home their attendance at school has been excellent. Staff understand that education comes in many guises and ensure that there is learning from each planned activity. A representative from the child’s school told the inspector that the child’s progress at school since living at the home has been ‘excellent’.
p.3

The child is doing well because she has developed a good sense of belonging and permanence in this home. The staff maintain clear, consistent and appropriate boundaries. This has helped her to develop confidence in the staff and to form positive attachments.

The manager and staff have an excellent understanding of the child’s therapeutic needs. Structured and personalised responses mean that challenging behaviours are reducing, allegations are managed well, and the child is gradually learning how to manage their anxieties and worries.
p.3
How well children and young people are helped and protected: good
Time is used creatively by the staff to help the child to understand how to keep themselves safe and how to better understand their feelings when they are worried or when change takes place. This leads to compassionate, proportionate and warm responses from staff, resulting in the child learning from their experiences.
p.3
How well children and young people are helped and protected: good
Staff ensure that the use of physical intervention to manage behaviour is kept to a minimum. However, when it does happen, staff are proactive in their responses. They follow protocol and report to all relevant agencies in a timely manner. Inspection report children's home: 2573614 4
