Summary of outcome

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills is leading Ofsted's work into how regulated early years and childcare providers in England have delivered child- centred practice and care, within the context of the restrictions placed on society during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

p.1

Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 25 May 2021 we received concerns that the provider was not meeting some of these requirements.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 26 May 2021, we carried out an unannounced regulatory visit. We found the provider was not meeting some of the requirements. We served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this.

p.1

Summary of outcome

Ensure that documents are in place for the safe and efficient management of the setting and make sure these are easily available, this includes any documentation you rely on to refer concerns about children in your care.

p.1

Summary of outcome

Maintain an accurate record of children's times of arrival and departure, in order to promote their safety. On 17 June 2021, we carried out an inspection and found the provider had taken some action to meet the notices served. However, while she had taken steps to improve the safety of her home, for example removing piles of equipment and furniture from areas used by children she was not meeting other requirements. The overall effectiveness of the provision was judged to be inadequate. The inspection report sets out the actions the provider was required to take to meet the requirements. We served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

Summary of outcome

Make sure that staffing arrangements meet children's needs and ensure their safety; this is with particular reference to only applying exceptions to the usual ratios for childminders where you are able to meet all children's needs

p.2

Summary of outcome

Ensure that you maintain a record of all complaints made about your provision.

p.3

Summary of outcome

We also issued an action for the provider to take.

p.3

Summary of outcome

Improve your learning arrangements so that each area of learning and development is implemented through planned, purposeful play and through a mix of adult-led and child- initiated activity; this is with specific reference to ensuring that experiences respond to each child's individual needs and stage of development, and that children are able to become actively engaged in their learning.

p.3

Summary of outcome

On 27 July 2021 we carried out a regulatory visit. The focus of the visit was to check whether the provider had met the safeguarding and welfare and learning and development actions raised at the last inspection. We found that the provider is keeping clear record of children's arrival and departure times, as well as any accidents they may have in her care. She has improved her management of children's needs and behaviour. She has completed a relevant paediatric first aid qualification. She has reduced the number of children she is caring for so she is better able to meet the care and learning needs of children in her care. She is maintaining a record of any complaints received about her provision. She has improved her understanding of child protection matters and implemented a system to monitor any signs of concern.

p.3

Summary of outcome

We are satisfied the provider has met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.3

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration. We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years.
