p.1
The provision is good
Children are excited to attend and enter the setting eager to learn. They actively explore the environment inside and outside and are captivated by the wide range of interesting resources and experiences on offer. Children often lead their own learning and initiate games. They enrol the support of staff to make paper planes and take turns to see whose flies the furthest. This extends to a trip into 'space' as children climb on and sit in a row on the tunnel that they pretend is a rocket. They learn about number as they count how many children can fit on and then count down from 10 and shout 'blast-off' at the end.
p.2
The provision is good
Young children settle well into routines that carefully consider their individual needs and match those at home. They seek comfort and reassurance and enjoy regular cuddles with familiar adults. Older children are confident, well behaved and kind and considerate to one another. They thoroughly enjoy helping to take care of the setting's guinea pigs and giant millipede, and look forward to the regular visits from the staff's reptiles and other pets.

need to do better?
n There have been significant improvements made to the setting since the last inspection. Constructive systems of evaluation and reflection on practice have helped to form plans and implement changes with positive results. Early years foundation stage requirements are met, and staff strive to continually develop the provision for children. n Recent changes to the staff team include new staff joining and existing staff taking on extended roles and responsibilities. There are effective induction procedures, and the ongoing programme of training and supervisions helps to foster a culture of mutual support. n Parents and carers are delighted with the setting and express how much their children enjoy attending. They speak highly of the staff and particularly value how much they have helped with the good progress children are making. Staff make good use of opportunities to involve parents and carers and the regular

exchange of information keeps them up to date with what is happening at the setting. This is really appreciated as many parents and carers have not been inside the setting for some time due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. n Key persons form close relationships and get to know the children well. They find out from parents and through observations what children already know and can do. All staff help to plan and provide experiences and they interact effectively with the children. n There are plenty of opportunities that build on children's interest and extend their learning. Children make marks, draw pictures and write letters and numbers with chalks, sticks and mud outside and pencils and pens on paper

2 July 2021 inside. They are proud to show the inspector their achievements and engage in conversation. n Most of the adult-led learning experiences are provided for children aged two to four years in one large group. This helps the younger children, who follow the examples set by older children. However, at these times, staff miss opportunities to provide more focused learning experiences for older children in preparation for their move to school. n Children sing songs and welcome one another in different languages. They show that they value and respect differences and similarities and are developing an awareness of people, families and communities beyond their own. n Children choose and look through books and pretend to read favourite stories. However, there are not enough high-quality experiences where staff read in a way that captures children's interest and helps to promote ideas, concepts and vocabulary.
p.2
need to do better?
n Healthy meals and snacks are provided, which adhere to any special dietary requirements or allergies. Children learn about their health and well-being and develop increasing independence. Younger children are supported to feed themselves and older children make choices and skilfully use cutlery to cut up their food.

Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The premises, equipment and resources are well maintained and staff are vigilant in identifying and adapting practice to ensure children's safety and security. Children learn to manage risks as they help to create obstacle courses. They find out how to make the environment safe through fun activities. Staff choose teams and children help to clear away after play and are keen to find out who finishes first. The manager and staff have a clear understanding and implement procedures to protect children from harm. Children who are vulnerable and/or disadvantaged are fully supported through the partnerships staff have with their families, carers and professionals from other agencies.

should:
n enhance the group experiences for older children to help them prepare for more formal learning at school n build on opportunities to encourage children's love of books and help promote their understanding of stories and develop vocabulary.
