This provision meets requirements

n The childminder knows the requirements of the early years foundation stage well. She reviews her safeguarding procedures and attends training that refreshes her knowledge of child protection matters. The childminder clearly demonstrates an intention to seek advice quickly if she is concerned that a child is at risk of harm. n The childminder decided to close her provision during the periods when schools were only open to some children due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) restrictions. Before reopening, she conducted a risk assessment and changed some procedures. For example, the childminder's revised policy is that parents and carers should stay outside the house when they bring and collect children. n The childminder demonstrates a well-developed understanding of how to promote children's health and safety. She ensures that menus do not include any foods that children are allergic to. She puts the trampoline out of bounds

until she has replaced the torn safety net. n The childminder demonstrates her understanding of how children develop when she explains the activities that she provides. For example, she knows that children develop strength and coordination when they climb, run and play football. She says that they demonstrate their imagination and small-muscle precision when they construct intricate models using building blocks. n The childminder understands how to help children to regulate their own behaviour. She describes how she observes children's disputes before deciding whether to intervene or to give children time to resolve things themselves. n The childminder knows how to promote children's respect for other people. For example, she describes that at teatime children sit at the table together and talk about their day. The childminder says that children learn to listen politely to each other and to take turns in a conversation.

They say that children feel at home in the childminder's provision. n The childminder shows how she maintains written records that help her to promote children's welfare. For example, she has a system for recording the medication that she administers to children. The childminder stores confidential information securely and has a good knowledge of data protection.

p.2

This provision meets requirements

There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
