This provision does not meet requirements

n The childminder is not able to demonstrate that she has considered the wider risks to children in her home. Although she identifies some hazards, she has not yet taken action to minimise all identified risks to children. For example, children have access to rooms on the ground floor that have not been effectively risk assessed. The conservatory, in warm weather, is too hot and the childminder does not have a system to regulate the temperature to an appropriate level to maintain children's good health and well-being. Additional measures to keep children safe overnight have not been considered as part of overall risk assessments. n Through discussion, the childminder demonstrates a limited understanding of the learning and development requirements. Her knowledge of what children need to be taught across the areas of learning is not good enough. She has some understanding of the prime and specific areas but has not thought through

how she would build a curriculum for the children to help them to make the best possible progress. Gaps in her knowledge mean that she is not clear about how learning should be sequenced for each child. n The childminder provides evidence of documentation that is in place. However, she was unable to provide evidence of her public liability insurance at the inspection. The childminder does not have effective procedures in place for administering medication to children. n The childminder understands the importance of building close relationships with parents. She explains about the information she would obtain from parents to help her care for the children. This includes information about the children's development and what she would need to do next to help children learn. The childminder shared that she is keen to help children to learn about keeping themselves safe outdoors. For example, she talks about teaching children road

safety. n The childminder discusses that she has completed recent training, including behaviour management. She explains how she would manage any challenging behaviour through positive reinforcement. The childminder explains that she would use praise and rewards to help children understand how to behave well and to respect the views of others. n The childminder describes her understanding of her role and responsibilities to act in the best interests of children. She knows what to do should she suspect a child is at risk of harm. The childminder is able to describe different types of abuse, including the possible signs and symptoms that would raise concern. She demonstrates that she is aware of how to make a referral if she is worried about a child in her care.

16 June 2021 There were no children present when this inspection took place. The findings in this report are based on evidence gathered from discussions with those who care for the children and an inspection of the premises, equipment and relevant documentation. Where there are no children present, no judgement is made on the quality of the early years provision as there is no reliable evidence on which to assess its impact on children. The report states whether the provider continues to meet the requirements of registration.
