This provision meets requirements

Children love coming to this home-from-home environment. When they arrive they put their shoes and jumpers away independently. They know to use hand gel to clean their hands and explain this is to stop germs from spreading. They tell the childminder all about their day at school. They excitedly show her crafts they have made at school and compare them to craft experiences they have had with the childminder.

This provision meets requirements

Children's behaviour is exemplary. They use good manners without being prompted. They use 'feelings stars' to talk about their feelings and emotions. Children tell visitors to the setting they feel 'happy and calm' when the childminder is caring for them. They feel safe and secure as there are clear routines in place. This means all children know what to do. When children have finished with an activity, they tidy away independently without being asked. Children benefit from exploring a well thought out learning environment. There are vast opportunities to play imaginatively. For example, children explore a dinosaur world and use real herbs in the mud kitchen to make potions. Children read books about recycling and how it helps the environment. They make models using cardboard boxes.

They excitedly rush to see if the chickens have laid any eggs and ask questions about the food they eat. Later, they feed the fish and comment on the way they move. n Children sustain their interest in activities for long periods of time. For example, they work together to build a zoo using construction materials. They share well with each, talking about where each part should go. When there are minor disagreements children successfully negotiate with each other. They are keen to explain their choices to visitors to the setting. n Parents are overwhelmingly positive about the childminder. They say her communication is excellent. They particularly enjoy the range of craft activities on offer. Parents feel able to discuss any concerns they may have with the
