Children develop close attachments to the childminder. They feel safe in her loving care as they go to her for cuddles and reassurance. Children play happily together and learn to care for and help each other. They share their toys and take turns. Children respond positively to the childminder's frequent praise. Young children are learning to regulate their own behaviour. They are becoming aware of their own and each other's needs.

Children make good progress in their learning. They are physically active and enjoy challenging activities outdoors. Children are able to manipulate small objects with dexterity. Their concentration is intense. They spend time thinking about their play and what they want to achieve. Children ask for help when they need to. They listen carefully to the childminder's teaching as they try new techniques for themselves. For example, they learn about bigger and smaller as they discover how the right sized bolt will fit into a nut.

They have joined a wildlife challenge so they can experience a different aspect of nature every day. n The childminder speaks to parents about children's development when they first visit her setting. She uses the information gained to determine children's starting points and inform her planning. She uses her knowledge and experience to track their progress. She checks her assessments against recognised guidance and plans for the next steps in their learning. However, the childminder's planning is not always sharply focused to ensure that children make rapid progress in all areas of the curriculum. For example, she does not consistently provide new words to extend children's vocabulary during planned activities. n Parents write highly positive reviews about the care their children receive. The
