Due to COVID-19, at the request of the Secretary of State, we suspended all routine inspections of social care providers on 17 March 2020.

p.1

Information about this children’s home

We last visited this setting on 3 March 2021 to carry out a monitoring visit. The report is published on our website.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This on-site visit took place to review the notice restricting accommodation. The registered manager and the responsible individual were both present during this visit.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The restriction notice was served following the previous visit on 3 March 2021. Three requirements and a compliance notice were also issued at that time.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider has reviewed how children are admitted. Admission processes that are already in use within the organisation will continue to be used in this home. These admission processes are thorough and include how the needs of existing children are considered and matched with new children. Although these processes were always in place, they were not always comprehensively followed.

p.1

This monitoring visit

Some changes have been made to the provider’s processes for matching children when they are referred by local authorities. There are clear expectations that all local authorities will be consulted with, including those with children already living in the Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2585102 2 home. The organisational policy also reflects this change. These changes demonstrate a commitment to improving admission and matching procedures and placement stability for children.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The child protection policy has been revised. This now includes more guidance for staff about referring concerns about senior staff. The policy now makes it clear what actions a staff member should take if they have concerns about their own line manager. However, the policy does not make it clear that staff can raise concerns externally, should they wish to.

p.2

This monitoring visit

The three requirements and compliance notice were not checked as part of this visit as their due dates are yet to pass. Ofsted has decided to remove the restriction notice as the provider has made sufficient changes to reduce the risk of harm should a child be admitted to the home.
