Information about this children’s home
The home has been without a registered manager since 24 February 2021. The provider is yet to appoint a new manager. A registered manager from another children’s home operated by the organisation is currently acting as the interim manager.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted conducted a monitoring visit to the home on 10 March 2021. This was in response to Ofsted receiving a complaint about the home. This visit raised serious concerns regarding safeguarding arrangements. As a result, Ofsted issued a restriction of accommodation notice on 16 March 2021. The home was also issued with three compliance notices under regulation 12, regulation 13 and regulation 23.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was carried out to review the provider’s progress in meeting the three compliance notices and to ensure that the provider was adhering to the restriction of accommodation notice.

This monitoring visit
Inspectors found that the provider has not admitted any new children to the home since the last monitoring visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Managers have made good progress and as a consequence, all three compliance notices have been met. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC064117 2 Managers have reviewed and updated children’s risk assessments. This work has also been further improved by the introduction of clear behaviour support plans for each child. These improvements ensure that staff have clear guidance on how to manage children’s risks. As a result of this work, the number of incidents in the home has reduced.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have received training that reflects the needs of the children who live in the home. This includes receiving training in relation to safeguarding children with disabilities, record-keeping and managing difficult situations. The manager has implemented a six- month training plan to help to ensure that staff training continues.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The manager has ensured that there are sufficient staff on duty to meet the agreed staffing ratios for children. This has had a positive impact on the quality of care that children receive. For example, one child is now able to have regular time out in the local community.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Managers have implemented a comprehensive and effective medication management system. Because of this change, there have been no medication errors. This positive development ensures that children’s health and well-being are now prioritised.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Management oversight of recording and reporting has improved. This has helped to ensure that staff receive feedback on their work to reflect on and improve their practice.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Managers have made improvements to the home environment. Bright pictures are now displayed on the walls and children have sensory lights in their bedrooms. This helps to create a more welcoming environment for children.
