Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home provides care and accommodation for up to three children who have experienced childhood instability, resulting in trauma and associated complex behaviours. The home is privately owned and forms part of a large social care organisation.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home does not have a registered manager in post.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 15 December 2020, a monitoring visit was carried out in response to information received by Ofsted which raised concerns about the safety of children. Following this visit, compliance notices were issued under regulations 12 and 13. This was due to identified shortfalls in the assessment and mitigation of risk, and the leadership and management of the home. In addition, Ofsted issued an urgent variation to the conditions of registration. This limited the number of children who could live at the home to one child.
p.1
This monitoring visit
At a further monitoring visit on 26 January 2021, the inspector found that the provider had met the actions required in the regulation 12 compliance notice but had not met the actions set in the regulation 13 compliance notice. This compliance notice was reissued. A notice of restriction of accommodation was also issued.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 9 March 2021, Ofsted carried out a monitoring visit. The inspector found that the provider had not met the actions set out in the compliance notice. The compliance notice was reissued and the notice of restriction of accommodation remained in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was undertaken to review the progress made to meet the actions set out in the regulation 13 compliance notice. At the time of the visit, there were no children living in the home. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC447645 2 The visit identified that the compliance notice actions had not been met. This is because the home does not have sufficient staff to provide care for the number of children that it is registered for.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has informed Ofsted that on 10 May 2021, a manager and a team of staff who currently work at one of their other homes will be transferred to work at this home. This will be a permanent move and the new manager will apply to be the registered manager. This will mean that the home will have sufficient staff and managers to run the home in line with their conditions of registration.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Ofsted has acknowledged the impending changes and have not reissued the compliance notice. The notice of restriction of accommodation has also ended. One requirement has been raised following this visit as the planned changes to the staffing of the home have not yet been completed and are therefore untested.
