Summary of outcome

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills is leading Ofsted's work into how regulated early years and childcare providers in England have delivered child- centred practice and care, within the context of the restrictions placed on society during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

p.1

Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the ' Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage' . If we find a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 26 February 2021, we received concerns that the childminder was not meeting some of these requirements. As a result of these concerns, we suspended the childminder's registration because we believed children may be at risk of harm. Suspension allows time for Ofsted to make further enquires and for the childminder to take steps to reduce or eliminate the risk of harm to children. The childminder has a right to appeal against the suspension. The childminder may not provide childcare for which registration is required while the suspension is in place and may commit an offence if they do so.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We also carried out a regulatory visit. During the visit, we found the childminder was not meeting some of the requirements. As a result, we served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the childminder to take the actions below within the timescales set out.

p.1

Summary of outcome

n ensure records for all children are readily available and include the following information: child's name; date of birth; address; parents' details; who has parental responsibility; and emergency contact details

p.1

Summary of outcome

n maintain an accurate record of children's names and their hours of attendance.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 16 March 2021, we visited the childminder. During the visit we found the childminder had improved her systems for maintaining an accurate record of children's names and their hours of attendance. However, the childminder did not have records for some children. We also identified the childminder was not meeting further requirements. As a result, we served a welfare requirements notice.

p.1

Summary of outcome

Actions needed by 4 April 2021: n ensure ratios are maintained to meet the needs of all children and ensure their safety

p.1

Summary of outcome

n ensure any care provided for older children does not adversely affect the care of younger children receiving early years provision

p.2

Summary of outcome

n ensure records for all children are readily available and include the following information: child's name; date of birth; address; parents' details; who has parental responsibility; and emergency contact details

p.2

Summary of outcome

n make sure records are easily accessible and available for inspection at all times

p.2

Summary of outcome

n make sure records relating to individual children, including attendance records, are retained for a reasonable period of time after they have left the provision.

p.2

Summary of outcome

We are satisfied the childminder has met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised. We have now lifted the suspension because the childminder has taken appropriate action to deal with the matter that led to the suspension. We are satisfied there is no risk of harm to children. The childminder will be able to give parents further information about this matter. The childminder remains registered with Ofsted.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years.
