p.1
Cambian Childcare Limited
Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home is owned and managed by a private company. The home provides care and support for up to three children who can no longer live at home.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The manager was registered with Ofsted in November 2019.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of the visit was to explore the action taken by the home following an anonymous complaint to Ofsted about bullying in the home. The monitoring visit involved both on-site and off-site inspection activity due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) restrictions. Three children are currently living at the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Children have been playfighting and on occasions this has got out of hand. One child has been left with scratches and bruising. However, other incidents have included intimidation and bullying, for example one child has given his pocket money to another child. The manager and staff are aware of these incidents and have acted appropriately. Weekly disruption meetings with a range of professionals commenced in early February 2021. Risk assessments, placement plans and bullying incident forms are updated after each incident.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have received additional training in countering bullying and the children have completed projects on bullying. Social workers have visited regularly and discussed these concerns with the children. Several independent people have tried to talk to the children about this concern, but the children say that they are only playfighting and that they are all friends. The children are monitored and supervised in the home, but they have gone out together in the local community without staff supervision. This does not ensure that the children are fully safeguarded.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The children are on a one-to-one staffing ratio. However, there have been occasions when only two staff have been on shift. This is not in accordance with the children’s Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC456729 2 placement plans and it has the potential to compromise the monitoring and supervision of the children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There have been no safeguarding incidents to report by the home. When concerns do arise, swift action is taken. Staff work closely with all external professionals and good records are maintained. All staff are trained in safeguarding procedures and they understand their roles and responsibilities if an incident was to occur.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Two requirements have been made as part of this monitoring visit.
