Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2494881 1
p.1
Wrottesley Care Limited
Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home is operated by a private company and is registered to provide care and accommodation for one child who may have social and/or emotional difficulties. Currently, a child is not living in the home.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The registered manager has been in post since July 2020.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The home was judged to require improvement to be good at the full inspection in June 2019. The home was judged to have declined in effectiveness at the interim inspection in November 2019.
p.1
This monitoring visit
An assurance visit took place on 28 and 29 September 2020. At this visit, widespread and serious concerns in relation to the care and protection of children and the leadership and management of the home were identified. The home’s registration was suspended on 30 September 2020 and two compliance notices were issued.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A monitoring visit took place in November 2020, where the compliance notices were considered met. However, as improvements were in their infancy and staff recruitment was ongoing, Ofsted imposed an urgent notice to vary the conditions of registration of the home to care for one child on 5 November 2020.
p.1
This monitoring visit
A monitoring visit took place on 8 December 2020, to review the urgent notice. Limited progress had been made, with six of the nine requirements issued in September 2020 being reissued. The urgent variation to conditions of registration remained in place.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this visit was to review the urgent notice to vary conditions of registration. This visit was completed remotely due to national restrictions in place Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2494881 2 because of COVID-19 (coronavirus). The inspector interviewed the registered manager and the responsible individual and reviewed documents provided.
p.1
This monitoring visit
No children have lived in the home since the suspension of registration was lifted in November 2020, and limited progress has been made.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The inspector found that five of the six requirements were either not met or Ofsted was unable to assess the provider’s progress in meeting them as there is no child living at the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The responsible individual and the registered manager have reviewed existing paperwork and introduced additional paperwork relating to their care of children. As no child has moved into the home, these were blank. Therefore, it was not possible to see if this additional paperwork would have a positive impact on the care provided to children. In addition, some of the paperwork was poorly written with spelling errors and one document referred to another children’s home provider.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Since the last monitoring inspection, the deputy manager has resigned and left the home. The senior support worker has resigned and is working his notice. This leaves the manager and four support workers in post. Three of these support workers remain out of the time frames for obtaining their level 3 qualification in residential childcare. Two of these support workers are currently on probation. The managers told the inspector that four members of support staff have been redeployed to work in another home in the company.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Both the responsible individual and registered manager agree that currently there are not enough staff for any child to move into the home.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Following this inspection, five requirements were reissued. A second urgent notice to vary conditions of registration from three to one was also issued.
