The young people found the combined pressures of COVID-19 (coronavirus) lockdown restrictions and Christmas difficult and frustrating. Incidents of the young people going missing from care and engaging in risk-taking behaviour increased. However, once Christmas was over, the young people settled and are now making progress. This is due to the nurturing care that they receive from the staff, which gives them a sense of safety and belonging.

Routines in the home run smoothly and the young people are clear about the expectations of them and which behaviours are not acceptable. The staff are supporting the young people effectively to learn from their mistakes, and praise and reward them for positive behaviour and achievements.
