Information about this children’s home
This local authority home is registered to provide care for up to three children and young people aged up to 18 years with social and emotional difficulties.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This is the second monitoring visit completed to review the compliance notices issued at the last monitoring visit on 9 November 2020 and to review the action taken since. The home remains temporarily closed and the condition added to this home requires leaders to advise Ofsted three months in advance of their intention to admit a child. This monitoring visit included several telephone discussions and a review of records.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Senior managers have completed a detailed action plan to address the requirements made at the last inspection. These requirements will be monitored at the next inspection. Ofsted acknowledges the steps taken by the local authority to address the requirements in the compliance notices. However, the effectiveness of the actions and plans in place cannot be tested at this stage as the home is not operational currently.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff previously working at this home are currently redeployed to other homes across the service. They have received training in physical restraint and safeguarding. The designated officer has provided training and support to staff about statutory safeguarding responsibilities and procedures. Initial findings of the learning service review were shared with the inspector. However, the review is not yet completed as work is still under way. A copy will be shared with Ofsted when finalised. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: SC034211 2 Senior managers have plans in place to improve oversight and quality assurance processes within the service. Children’s views and opinions will be prioritised and will be included before the home reopens.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The responsible individual has confirmed that the home will remain closed at this time and that further work is needed before the local authority is ready to give the required notice to Ofsted that the home is ready for a child to move into. Ofsted will continue to monitor developments at this service.
