Summary of outcome

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills is leading Ofsted's work into how regulated early years and childcare providers in England have delivered child- centred practice and care, within the context of the restrictions placed on society during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

p.1

Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage . If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 18 November 2020, the provider notified us that a serious accident had happened to a child in her care. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage to notify Ofsted of serious accidents.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 19 November 2020 and 23 November 2020, we carried out regulatory telephone calls. On 26 November we carried out a regulatory visit. We found the provider was not meeting some of the requirements. We have served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.1

Summary of outcome

n ensure a full paediatric first aid course is completed

p.1

Summary of outcome

n keep children safe and ensure they are not exposed to risks by conducting an effective risk assessment which identifies all possible risks and the aspects of the environment that need to be checked on a regular basis, which should include when and by whom those aspects will be checked, and how the risks will be removed or minimised

p.1

Summary of outcome

n improve knowledge and understanding of the requirement to notify local child protection agencies of any serious accident or injury to any child.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 13 January 2021, we carried out a regulatory telephone call. The focus of the telephone call was to monitor the welfare requirements notice, to check whether the provider had met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised at the last visit.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We found that the provider and her assistant had both completed a full paediatric first aid course and increased their knowledge of how to deal with a medical emergency appropriately. The provider has improved her risk assessment and has banned the consumption of hot drinks in her setting indefinitely. The provider now understands the requirement to notify local child protection agencies of any serious accident or injury to a child in her care. She is working with the local authority to make continuous improvements in her setting.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We are satisfied the provider has met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years.
