Summary of outcome
Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills is leading Ofsted's work into how regulated early years and childcare providers in England have delivered child- centred practice and care, within the context of the restrictions placed on society during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
p.1
Summary of outcome
All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 29 October 2020 the provider notified us that a child had sustained a serious injury while in their care. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage to notify Ofsted of a significant event.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 30 October 2020, we carried out a regulatory telephone call. We found the provider was not meeting some of the requirements. We have served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the action below within the timescales set out. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this.
p.1
Summary of outcome
take all reasonable steps to ensure children are not exposed to risks, with specific reference to removing all objects from areas used for childminding that can result in burns or scalds to children
p.1
Summary of outcome
ensure risk assessments identify aspects of the environment that need to be checked on a regular basis, when and by whom those aspects will be checked, and how the risk will be removed or minimised.
p.1
Summary of outcome
On 9 November 2020 we carried out a regulatory visit. The focus of the visit was to check whether the provider had met the actions raised in the welfare requirements notice. We found that the provider had removed objects that pose a risk to children and that through her risk assessment she minimises potential risks to children in her home.
p.2
Summary of outcome
On 2 November 2020, 11 November 2020 and 16 November 2020, we received information linked to the notification that the provider had made. In part, the information received reflected what the provider told us. However, some of the new information raised concern and additional information has been requested.
p.2
Summary of outcome
We received new information on 13 December 2020 and considered this as part of the enquiries we made. The information included greater detail of the injuries sustained by the child and the medical treatment given. We are satisfied that the provider has met the actions raised. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.
