p.1
Resilience North East Limited
Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1

p.1
Information about this children’s home
The registered manager’s post is vacant.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This on-site visit was carried out to investigate potential breaches of regulations. Ofsted has received a limited number of reports from an independent visitor since November 2019. Information shared with Ofsted shows a significant rise in the use of physical intervention.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There is no evidence that independent visits have been made to the home from December 2019 until July 2020. This means that the care children receive is not independently scrutinised to provide assurance that they are safeguarded effectively and their well-being is promoted. The responsible individual has appointed an independent visitor who has begun to carry out monthly visits to the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff use physical intervention when children display crisis behaviour. Records of these incidents do not provide a detailed description of the methods used. A section to record concerns raised by staff is often left blank. Additionally, there were no records of any debriefs held with staff. This demonstrates that leaders do not sufficiently monitor or review this practice to ensure that children are safe.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Leaders have failed to ensure that the home is operated within the agreed conditions of registration. Residential care is currently being provided. However, the current conditions for registration are to provide short breaks. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 1254371 2 Leaders do not fully understand their roles and responsibilities to report safeguarding concerns. There is an isolated incident in which information was not promptly shared with all relevant professionals involved with safeguarding processes. This has not led to serious failure, but when safeguarding processes are not followed, it exposes children to the potential risk of harm.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff have adapted activities during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic so that children continue to take part in things they enjoy and make positive memories.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Children are cared for by a small team of staff who have a good understanding of the children’s needs. This consistency provides children with stability, which helps them to feel secure.
