Information about this children’s home
This service registered as a children’s home in January 2020. This is the first visit to the home since its registration. The home is run by a private provider. The home offers care and accommodation for children with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties. It is registered to accommodate four children. The registered manager has been in post since January 2020.

This monitoring visit
Ofsted is aware of the challenges that COVID-19 (coronavirus) is currently posing to those we regulate. During this visit, the inspector took into consideration the impact of any measures being taken to slow the spread of COVID-19 by the home. The inspector balanced this with safeguarding duties and a blended approach was taken with remote and on-site activity.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This monitoring visit was completed in response to concerns that staff had not been able to protect children effectively.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The monitoring visit confirmed that a child had not been sufficiently protected from significant bullying. Staff were also unable to prevent a child being coerced by other children into behaving in a harmful manner. As a result, children did not feel safe in their home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Staff did not always understand how to manage children’s behaviours or understand their responsibility to intervene when children behaved in a dangerous manner. For example, staff were unable to stop a child walking onto a dangerous, unlit road.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Information in children’s risk assessments is not always fully considered. Staff were not aware of potential risks and minimised the potential impact of some identified behaviours. A social worker stated that ‘The matching for the child wasn’t right.’ Poor Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: 2565421 2 matching and a lack of understanding of children’s behaviours have contributed to unplanned placement endings.
