p.1

Stanfield Care Services Limited

Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This privately owned home is registered to provide care for up to four children aged between eight and 17 who present with challenging behaviour. The registered manager left the home in October 2018. A new manager was in post and her registration was in progress at the of the assurance visit.

p.1

This monitoring visit

This monitoring visit was undertaken following a request from the provider to vary the conditions of registration. The home has been closed since June 2020, and no children have been accommodated. The provider has requested a change of registration category from emotional and/or behavioural difficulties to learning disabilities. The provider also requested that the three-month condition, which requires them to give Ofsted three months’ notice before placing a child, is lifted.

p.1

This monitoring visit

In the time that the home has been closed, the provider has made improvements to the environment. Many areas of the home have been repainted. Plans are in place to paint areas that still require redecoration. New carpets and lino have been laid, new windows have been fitted and damage has been repaired. The home is now child- friendly and well decorated and furnished. The children’s bedrooms have been redecorated and have new furniture in place. No lockable storage was available in the bedrooms.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The location risk assessment requires updating to reflect the needs of the children who are intended to be placed at the home. Currently, the location risk assessment refers to the needs of previously placed children.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The provider intends to offer a range of training to new staff in understanding and managing learning disabilities. The provider plans to transfer two staff to this home from another of its children’s homes. Other staff are yet to be recruited. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: SC451152 2 Following the monitoring visit, the provider withdrew the request to vary the conditions of registration. Therefore, the three-month condition remains in place and the home remains closed.

p.1

This monitoring visit

The requirements raised at the last inspection were not reviewed at this monitoring visit and are therefore restated.
