Summary of outcome

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills is leading Ofsted's work into how regulated early years and childcare providers in England have delivered child- centred practice and care, within the context of the restrictions placed on society during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 12 March 2020, we carried out an inspection and found the provider was not meeting some of these requirements. The overall effectiveness of the provision was judged to be inadequate. The inspection report sets out the actions the provider was asked to take to meet the requirements.

p.1

Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage . If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 30 September 2020, while routine inspections were suspended, we carried out an interim visit. The focus of the visit was to check whether the provider had met the safeguarding and welfare actions, raised at their last inspection.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We found the provider had met some of the safeguarding and welfare actions but not others. The childminder had improved the hygiene in the kitchen, including the safe storage of food. She had strengthened her security for storing data and extended her strategies for positive behaviour management. However, the risk assessment procedure continues to not be sufficiently robust to ensure risks within the environment are identified and minimised.

p.1

Summary of outcome

In relation to the new areas of concern, we have served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.1

Summary of outcome

improve knowledge of the requirements relating to risk assessment to ensure you are able to identify hazards that pose a risk to children's safety and the action needed to minimise them

p.1

Summary of outcome

ensure the premises are safe, with regard to the storage of hazardous items and the risks of children accessing unsafe, large play equipment. On the 21 October 2020 we carried out a visit to the provider to monitor the action raised in the welfare Requirements Notice. We found the provider had improved the safety in the setting. Hazardous items were stored safely and large play equipment was removed. The provider also improved her understanding of risk assessment. We are satisfied with the steps taken by the provider to meet the actions.

p.1

Summary of outcome

The provider remains registered with Ofsted.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years.
