Summary of outcome

Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Education, Children's Services and Skills is leading Ofsted's work into how regulated early years and childcare providers in England have delivered child- centred practice and care within the context of the restrictions placed on society during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

p.1

Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 17 December 2019, we carried out an inspection and found the childminder was not meeting some of these requirements. The overall effectiveness of the provision was judged to be inadequate. The inspection report sets out the actions the childminder was asked to take to meet the requirements.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 16 September 2020, while routine inspections were suspended, we carried out an interim visit. The focus of the visit was to check whether the childminder had met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised at their last inspection. We found the childminder had met some of the safeguarding and welfare actions but had not one action.

p.1

Summary of outcome

We found that the childminder has started to monitor the practice of her assistant and was able to demonstrate through discussion a suitable understanding of areas of stronger practice, and areas for further development. We found that the childminder has taken steps to improve her own knowledge and understanding of the requirements since the last inspection and has some plans for future improvement. The childminder now maintains an accurate record of children's attendance which reflects their actual arrival and departure times. She acted promptly to make sure that all adults working with children on the premises are updated on her registration. She was able to demonstrate a suitable understanding of the matters which need to be notified to Ofsted. We also found that the childminder has made contact with other settings children attend about the activities they provide to children and communicates regularly with them about

important matters relating to their care and well-being. However, this is still in its early stages and she has not yet shared information in relation to children's learning and development. However, this was not a legal requirement at the time of the interim visit as this had been disapplied to support early years providers during the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. This was explained to the childminder during the visit. We will monitor the childminder's full compliance with the following action at the next inspection. The childminder is still registered with Ofsted.

p.2

Summary of outcome

n develop consistent and secure partnerships with other early years settings that children also attend, to support continuity in children's learning and development

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years commencing on the date we complete our investigation.
