Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years- foundation-stage-framework--2. If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 13 February 2020, the childminder notified us of a significant event. On 14 February 2020, we suspended the childminder's registration because we believed that children may have been at risk of harm. Following our enquiries with other agencies, on 25 March 2020, we lifted the suspension and we continued to monitor.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 27 July 2020, we received further concerns that the childminder was not meeting some of the requirements. On 6 August 2020, we carried out an unannounced regulatory visit. We served a welfare requirements notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out. We also found that, in addition to the notification made to Ofsted on 13 February 2020, there had been previous occasions when the childminder had failed to notify Ofsted of changes and significant events which may affect their suitability or the suitability of any person who cares for children on the premises. Failure to notify Ofsted of such matters, without reasonable excuse, is an offence. On this occasion, we accepted that the childminder had not intended to deceive Ofsted and that the failure to notify was due to a misunderstanding. The childminder will be able to give parents

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 21 August 2020, we carried out a further unannounced regulatory visit to check whether the childminder had met the actions raised at the last visit. We found that the childminder had improved the risk assessment of the premises and activities in the garden. She had undertaken work to make the parts of the garden used by children safe for them to play. The childminder had also improved her procedures for keeping records of children's attendance.

p.2

Summary of outcome

We are satisfied that the childminder has met the safeguarding and welfare actions raised. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We aim to ensure that the welfare of children and young people is protected in the services we regulate. The Childcare Act 2006 and accompanying regulations set out our responsibilities to regulate childminders and childcare providers. This includes the enforcement powers we have in relation to those registered providers who do not comply with the requirements for registration.

p.2

Publication of compliance action

We publish details of any actions we take, or the childminder or childcare provider takes to bring about compliance with requirements on our website for a period of five years commencing on the date we complete our investigation.
