Summary of outcome

All early years providers must meet the legal requirements in the 'Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage', which you can find at www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-foundation-stage-framework--2 . If we find that a provider is not meeting the requirements, we can take action to ensure they put matters right.

p.1

Summary of outcome

On 26 February 2020 we received concerns that this provider was not meeting some of these requirements. The provider also notified us on the same day that a child had left the premises unsupervised and had been found by a member of the public. The notification means that the provider met their legal responsibility as set out in the early years foundation stage welfare requirements to notify Ofsted of significant events. We visited the provider to discuss the concerns and have issued a Welfare Requirements Notice. This is a legal notice that requires the provider to take the actions below within the timescales set out. The provider will be able to give parents further information about this.

p.1

Summary of outcome

ensure that children do not leave the premises unsupervised and take all reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised persons entering the areas of the premises used by children

p.1

Summary of outcome

train all staff to understand their safeguarding policy and procedures and ensure that all staff have an up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding issues

p.1

Summary of outcome

ensure that the provider and staff have closer regard for the government guidance 'Working Together to Safeguard Children 2015' and notify all agencies with statutory responsibilities without delay if there are concerns about children's safety or welfare; this means the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO)

p.1

Summary of outcome

make sure that staffing arrangements meet the needs of all children and ensure their safety; this means deploying staff effectively so that children always remain within their sight and hearing

p.2

Summary of outcome

review risk assessments and ensure that they accurately identify aspects of the environment that need to be checked on a regular basis; this relates to ensuring that steps are taken to regularly check that all doors on the premises remain secure and children cannot exit unnoticed and other people cannot enter the areas where children play

p.2

Summary of outcome

obtain sufficient information from parents to ensure the safe and efficient management of the setting and to help ensure that the needs of all children are met; this relates to finding out key information when children start at the pre-school to help maintain their safety and welfare.

p.2

Summary of outcome

ensure that the pre-school's policy and procedures in the event of a child going missing is shared with parents and is adhered to by the manager and staff.

p.2

Summary of outcome

We were unable to visit the provider during restrictions from March 2020 to June 2020 in relation to COVID-19 (corona virus). We have now interviewed the provider and viewed documents and photographs that show the steps the provider has taken to improve safety and security of the children. We are now satisfied that the provider has addressed all the points above from the Welfare Requirements Notice. The provider is still registered with Ofsted.

p.2

Publication of complaints

We publish details of complaints made against childminders, home childcarers and childcare providers where we or the provider have taken action in order to meet legal requirements.

p.3
