p.1
Information about this children’s home
The home is registered to provide care and accommodation for up to three children who have social and/or emotional difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
Since registration on 9 August 2019, the home has had two registered managers. The current registered manager is experienced and has a level 5 qualification in leadership and management.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted carried out a full inspection on 4 and 5 March 2020. The home was judged inadequate. Following this inspection, Ofsted issued a compliance notice in respect of regulation 12 and issued a notice that restricted the number of children that the home can accommodate.
p.1
This monitoring visit
On 7 April 2020, Ofsted conducted a monitoring visit. The inspector found that staff and the manager had not met the compliance notice issued at the last full inspection. The inspector identified that there were serious shortfalls in safeguarding. Ofsted continued with the notice that restricted the number of children that the home can accommodate.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The purpose of this monitoring inspection was to review the action taken by the provider to meet the compliance notice, and to review the continued need to restrict the number of children the home can accommodate.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, Ofsted did not carry out a physical visit to the home. The inspector instead gathered evidence in several different ways. This included talking to the manager and the responsible individual and asking them to provide electronic documents for the inspector to review. Inspection report for children’s home - monitoring visit: 2537375 2 Managers have taken positive steps to revise young people’s risk management plans to ensure that they are suitably detailed. This includes the way in which high-risk behaviours, such as missing from home, fire setting and substance misuse are addressed. Furthermore, staff have received training in the completion and updating of risk management plans.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager and staff team are now ensuring that any safeguarding issues are clearly documented, including a chronology of the action taken by the home. These records are now shared with safeguarding agencies and placing authorities.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Management monitoring systems are now more effective. Managers can identify weaknesses, address issues and track patterns and trends. Monitoring systems promote improvements to the quality of care and provide an effective system to ensure that young people are safeguarded from potential harm.
p.2
This monitoring visit
As a result of this visit, the compliance notice in respect of regulation 12 has been met. The restriction of accommodation will not be extended beyond its end date. Other requirements raised at the full inspection have not been reviewed and will be considered at a future inspection.
