The provision is outstanding
Children flourish in this exceedingly warm and welcoming setting. The childminder places children's well-being at the heart of everything she does. She is an excellent role model and an inspirational teacher. Children develop exceptionally secure attachments with the childminder. They play together well and show genuine affection and love for their friends. Children are confident, creative and independent learners who display remarkably high levels of emotional well-being during play. The childminder has the highest possible expectations for children's learning and development. She captures every available opportunity to enhance children's learning. For example, young children learn about capacity as they fill and empty cups during sensory play. Older children are curious. They ask and answer questions about why things happen and how things work, which supports them to test out their ideas. This is superbly demonstrated when children

investigate weight and measure during a baking activity. They weigh ingredients, talk about 'heavy' and 'light' and count how many cupcakes they have made and how many more they need.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
Children's behaviour is exemplary. They have an excellent understanding of how to manage their own feelings and emotions and how to avoid conflicts. Children are kind and extremely polite to one another. For example, they instinctively say 'you're welcome', 'please' and 'thank you' to the childminder and to each other. Children share toys and resources exceptionally well and spontaneously help each other. They benefit greatly from the sensitive support and praise they receive, which helps them to understand what they are doing well.

need to do better?
11 March 2020 n All children develop strong independence skills. They are extremely confident in their self-care. For example, they pour their own drinks, peel and cut their bananas and put their rubbish in the bin. The childminder works diligently and successfully to ensure that all children develop very robust, healthy lifestyles. n There is a very strong focus on developing children's communication and language skills. Books are accessible and displayed in all areas for children to freely select. Young children independently access their favourite books and babble and point to pictures. Older children complete a puzzle linked to 'The Hungry Caterpillar' story and recall incredibly well the sequence of the story and all the things the caterpillar had eaten. They eloquently repeat repetitive verses and phrases they know well. The childminder successfully guides the children to offer ideas about what is happening and how.

need to do better?
n The childminder encourages children to develop their early literacy skills throughout all activities. For example, children take part in sensory physical development sessions where they all practise a range of precise movements linked to supporting early writing skills. Older children have an excellent understanding of letters and the sounds they represent, and are learning to recognise and write their own names. n The childminder provides rich opportunities for children to learn about themselves and the local community. For example, children go to local shops to buy ingredients for their cooking activities linked to Chinese New Year. They learn about nature, for instance on regular trips to the woods and parks. This helps children to develop a sense of their wider community and to gain respect for others. n The childminder is reflective and committed to continually developing her practice. She considers the opinions of parents to maintain her extremely high-
