The childminder has very high expectations for every child. She gets to know them very well and her excellent curriculum is built around their interests, supporting their individual learning needs exceedingly well. Children are exceptionally happy and full of enthusiasm. They demonstrate that they feel safe and secure. Children love the time they spend with the childminder. She provides them with warmth and affection to help them feel valued and safe. Children's emotional well-being is high. Children play harmoniously together as they share toys and resources exceptionally well and spontaneously help each other. The provision is outstanding

The childminder skilfully engages children in meaningful conversations to extend their communication skills. Children flourish as the childminder gives them specific and positive praise for their efforts and achievements. Children benefit greatly from sensitive support and consistently display excellent behaviour due to the clear boundaries and rules that are in place. The childminder reflects well on her practice to ensure children reach their full potential. She is continually making improvements and using her professional development to build on the quality of her setting. For instance, she has recently improved the set-up of her garden so children can access it all year round. She has plans to create a fairy garden with the children, following on from their interests.

n The childminder plans and provides highly stimulating activities which capture the children's attention extremely well. Children remain focused and engaged in what they are doing, and take an active role in their learning. For example, during an activity on handwashing, children look for germs using magnifying glasses, make bubbles with the soap and sing songs to ensure they wash their hands for the right length of time. n The childminder has an exceptional understanding of how children learn and how to build on children's knowledge and experiences. She combines this with meticulous and in-depth observations to plan what children need to master next. Children retain what they have learned and are amazingly prepared for their future learning. n There is a very strong focus on developing children's communication and language skills. The childminder encourages children to develop their early literacy skills throughout all activities. Books are displayed accessibly in all areas
