This inspection examined progress made at the home since the monitoring visit. The registered manager has made good progress, and all requirements are now met.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager has now embedded clear monitoring systems to enable oversight of the home. These enable her to identify and quickly address any safeguarding concerns about children or areas for development in staff practice. For example, the registered manager and deputy manager were able to identify where a Inspection report for children's home – monitoring visit: SC478852 2 member of staff needed some additional support. This included modelling their responses to children’s behaviour. This has transformed staff’s practice. Children in the home were able to identify this change when they spoke to inspectors and reported they were happy in the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The manager has completed a realistic quality of care review which takes account of feedback from children, staff, and those outside of the home. The manager has identified actions that are relevant to develop staff practice. For example, the manager ensures that training, relevant to the needs of children in the home, is prioritised for staff. This child-centred approach, alongside the strengthened systems in the home, means that children receive care from staff who have the necessary skills and are clear on their roles and responsibilities.
p.2
This monitoring visit
The staff team has worked hard to ensure that children have positive experiences of moving into and out of the home. For example, when children leave the home, staff who are important to them help with transport and settling them in to their new home. This is done in a sensitive and attuned way that emphasises to children that they are important, and that the relationships that they have with staff are valued.
