Inspection report children’s home: 2502314 1 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Ltd Interim inspection Inspected under the social care common inspection framework

p.1

Information about this children’s home

This is a privately owned home registered to provide care and accommodation for up to three young people. It provides a minimum 12-month programme of support for young people who have experienced or are at risk of sexual exploitation. The home is managed by a suitably experienced and qualified registered manager.

p.1

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At the interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has improved effectiveness.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The two young people living at the home get on well with staff and each other. Both young people are relatively new to the service and have settled well. Staff have excellent skills and knowledge and ensure that young people receive good, nurturing care. As a result, young people thrive in different aspects of their development.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Both young people have access to education and are making progress at a pace that is right for them. Young people’s confidence improves because staff acknowledge the progress they are making, no matter how small. A teacher commented about a young person’s progress: ‘[Name of young person] is mustard! She is so organised.’

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Young people’s social, emotional and psychological health improves because they have access to services that meet their individual needs. The joined-up working between school, home and therapists directly supports the progress young people are making to improve their health.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Young people’s voice helps to shape the home that they live in. For example, the young person’s guide and the decor are under review as a direct result of consultation with young people. This means staff listen and take effective action when young people have their say.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Both young people are happy living at the home. Young people know how to complain, and they have access to independent people who they can raise concerns with. Young people have their say about the home and any grumbles are dealt with before they become complaints. As a result, no complaints have been raised since the last inspection.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Staff work hard to build trusting and nurturing relationships. Young people do not exhibit any behaviour that requires the use of physical intervention. As a result, young people live in harmony with each other in a place that offers them safety and security.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The manager uses current evidence-based research to inform her practice and provides effective monitoring to ensure that this research also becomes embedded into staff practice. As a result, young people receive excellent care that has a wraparound approach from effective, collaborative working.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The manager has ensured that the requirement and recommendations raised at the last inspection have been addressed. Staff have clear guidance about how to report or refer allegations against staff. A leaflet for visitors also provides information about how to report and raise any concerns. This helps to ensure that young people are Inspection report children’s home: 2502314 3 protected from harm. All staff have completed training around fire safety. This is now refreshed annually. This ensures that all staff are equipped to respond in the event of a fire. The manager ensures that any significant events are notified to Ofsted in a timely manner. This ensures that the regulator is kept informed and can take action if required. Inspection report children’s home: 2502314 4
