Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council
Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This home is one of four local authority homes. It is registered for up to four young people who have emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This children’s home was judged inadequate at the full inspection on 16 January 2020. This monitoring visit was undertaken to monitor the actions the provider has taken in respect of the requirements made at the full inspection. There were no children living in the placement at the time of the monitoring visit.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The registered manager is currently absent from work and there is an acting manager in post.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider has taken some steps to address the shortfalls identified at the last inspection. For example, staff, including the acting manager, now have regular supervision. The acting manager has started to complete actions identified in the home’s action plan to make improvements to the quality of care provided to children.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The provider also recognises that it is not ready to admit children to the home at this time. The organisation has agreed to a refurbishment of the home, with the expected timescale for completion being two to three months.
p.1
This monitoring visit
There is not a full staff team and existing staff have still not completed all of the required training, for example self-harm training. As a result, the provider does not plan to admit any young people for a period of three months and has requested that there is a variation to the home’s conditions of registration to reflect this.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Ofsted will not inspect the home while the condition is in place but will visit the provider when it indicates that it wants to reopen the home to ensure that the provider and premises remain fit for registration. Inspection report for children’s home – monitoring visit: SC039897 2
