Inspection report children’s home: SC457137 1 SC457137 Registered provider: Cambian Childcare Limited Interim inspection Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children’s home
This privately operated children’s home provides care and accommodation for one young person who has emotional and/or behavioural difficulties.
p.1
Information about this children’s home
The previous registered manager left the home on 23 December 2019. The new manager started in post on 30 December 2019, having been promoted from within the organisation. She has submitted her application for registration to Ofsted.

Enforcement action since last inspection: none Inspection report children’s home: SC457137 2
p.1
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At the interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has sustained effectiveness.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
Since the previous inspection, there has been a change of manager. This change was carefully managed during the handover period to minimise any concerns the young person may have had. The young person feels supported by the manager, who they said has spent a lot of time getting to know them. Although the manager has only been in post for three months, staff hold her in good regard. She works hard to provide a good home for the young person.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The young person has lived here for over a year. The team has shown good care and commitment. Staff have continued to manage difficult incidents, while focusing on the young person’s safety and best interests. When errors have occurred, managers have acted to prevent them from happening again. Professionals are full of praise for the managers and staff. They highlight the excellent working relationships that the team has with all agencies. This collaboration is vital, as the young person has complex health and safety needs.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The young person has good relationships with staff, who think of creative ways to engage with them. For example, staff have recently set up another video games console in the home and the young person has taught staff how to play online games with them. Staff also help the young person to develop confidence and enjoyment in activities outside of the home.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
The manager has persevered in ensuring that the necessary services are in place for the young person. She has pursued any missing information or input required, such as educational arrangements or psychiatric reports. When the young person raises issues, such as Wi-Fi speed, the manager takes these seriously and seeks to resolve them.
p.2
children and young people since the most recent full inspection
There are some areas for improvement. The young person’s risk management plan needs fine tuning to ensure that staff have the best and most precise guidance to continue to safeguard the young person. Therefore, one requirement has been made. Additionally, the young person has been prescribed a new medication but information about this medication, including associated side effects and quantity, has not been made available for staff to read. However, this has been done for previous medications. Finally, aspects of the home’s statement of purpose suggest that there is not an individual approach for young people, which is not the case.
