This home was judged good at the last full inspection. At the interim inspection, Ofsted judges that it has improved effectiveness.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Since the last inspection, three children and young people remain living at the home. They continue to make excellent and sustained progress in all areas of their development. Another child has left the home after the staff helped to prepare him to live with foster carers. He has ongoing contact with the staff, who he developed a good relationship with. This has helped the child to settle into his new home. The foster carer spoke highly of the ongoing support and advice provided by the staff team. Another child has recently moved into the home and has settled well as a result of the manager’s careful consideration of the existing peer group.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The committed staff enjoy spending time with the children and young people. This includes the staff taking the children and young people on extended trips away, where they can have individual time with staff. Consequently, the children and young people have developed positive and trusting relationships with staff members. This has led to some children and young people engaging in external therapeutic support.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The children and young people have improved emotional well-being. They are more confident and have improved self-esteem. There is a reduction in the number of self-harming incidents and the children and young people learn to regulate their emotions and behaviour. Consequently, the staff have only needed to hold children and young people on a few occasions to keep them and others safe. The children and young people rarely go missing from home, so are at reduced risk of exploitation.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

All the children and young people are in education, with some children having excellent attendance rates as a result of the staff team’s encouragement and support. One young person has recently sat an exam, which is huge progress, and now has clear plans for their future.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The staff team provides consistent boundaries and routines. There has been a reduction in the number of times that the children and young people are up late at night. This leads to better sleep patterns, especially as some children are up early for school. The children and young people take pride in their home and were keen to show me how they keep their bedrooms clean and tidy. The new child-friendly care plans show how the children and young people have influenced their care and the running of the home. For example, one young person explained how she liked to be woken up by staff with a cup of tea, which helped her get ready for the day.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The manager and acting assistant unit manager continue to provide strong management to the staff team. The manager has taken steps to address all the Inspection report children’s home: SC063978 3 previous requirements and recommendations. The children and young people and the staff team speak positively about the changes that have been made since the last inspection. The management team has clear plans to continue to improve the home further. Inspection report children’s home: SC063978 4
