Children explore the activities and resources with confidence and curiosity. They enjoy selecting their own toys and involve the childminder in their play. Children demonstrate positive attitudes to learning. They show persistence when tackling difficult tasks and set themselves challenges, such as putting together puzzles or building a tall tower from blocks. Children receive good emotional support from the childminder. They enjoy the praise and encouragement they receive, and respond well to her guidance about behavioural boundaries. Children are familiar with the routines and expectations of the childminder. For instance, they demonstrate a willingness to help as they happily tidy away resources before they have a snack.
