children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The young people continue to benefit from very positive and supportive relationships with the staff team. The staff are highly skilled in developing trust and respect with young people through good communication and strong advocacy. One young person said, ‘They treat me like I want to be treated. When you need them, they listen to you and help you with all sorts.’ As a result, young people are thriving in a positive and supportive environment.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

The young people engage in a range of activities, benefiting from healthy exercise often linked to their personal interests and future career aspirations. Young people have re-engaged in education, starting with consistently attending school to identifying college placements. Staff work together with professionals to ensure that support and guidance is bespoke to young people. An independent reviewing officer spoke extremely positively about the progress a young person has made and continues to make since his successful move to semi-independent living. She stated, ‘It would appear it was just a perfect match. Together they just clicked.’

p.2

The manager is entirely visible to his staff and the young people. The home’s development plan implemented at the last full inspection has been completed. This included a holiday abroad, which was enjoyed by all. A canvas print takes centre stage in the main lounge, capturing the adventure they enjoyed. Young people enjoy numerous positive experiences and are supported by staff to maintain memory books. This has helped young people to develop confidence and improved self- esteem.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Young people access regular therapy sessions with the provider’s psychotherapist. This supports their emotional development. In turn, the therapist provides guidance and training to the staff, embedding awareness and knowledge in therapeutic relationships and environments. As a result, young people have massively reduced going missing behaviour and the need for physical intervention is rarely required. Young people are increasingly safe as a result of living at the home.

p.2

children and young people since the most recent full inspection

Staff prepare and support young people to develop independent living skills. For example, contracts are drawn up with young people on being able to manage a budget, replicating weekly activities such as shopping and menu planning. This helps young people in developing confidence and skills required towards becoming a positive young adult.

p.2

The monitoring systems are effective, Inspection report children’s home: 2509280 3 and the Regulation 44 monthly visits support the continual development of the home and the quality of care provided. The recommendations made at the last full inspection have been met. Inspection report children’s home: 2509280 4
