The provision is outstanding
Children are cared for extremely well in this exceptionally welcoming and friendly setting. The childminder has a very caring manner and children show they feel very emotionally secure in her care. Children are extremely happy and feel safe, secure and ready to learn. The childminder plans a rich and varied selection of activities, inside and outdoors, which captivate children's interests. Children laugh, jump and shake with excitement as the activities are being prepared and introduced. Children's behaviour is impeccable and the childminder has high expectations of them. Children have exceptionally high levels of self-esteem. They fully understand what they are doing well, through receiving continuous praise and encouragement from the childminder. The childminder places a sharp focus on developing children's independence. Children have opportunities to challenge themselves, take risks and learn important life skills to prepare them for their next stage in learning.

The provision is outstanding
For example, in the outdoor area, children make their own obstacle course and use bats to hit balls over the clothes line and binoculars to look closely at birds in the distance. Partnerships with parents are exceptional. The childminder keeps parents well informed and updated about their children's learning. Children benefit from the childminder's extraordinary attitude to supporting their care needs. For instance, she attends training to deepen her knowledge of children's medical needs. This aids her to ensure she provides children with the highest quality of care.

need to do better?
n The highly enthusiastic childminder carries out extremely accurate and detailed observations and assessments of children's learning. These assessments enable her to plan the next steps and to quickly identify gaps in children's learning. All children make excellent progress. n Children have exemplary attitudes to learning. They are motivated and excited to learn about their environment. For example, children demonstrate high levels of concentration as they try to mould the lard into a ball and mix seeds in to make bird feeders. They persevere when learning how to tie string to the net so that they can hang their bird feeders in the garden. Children are eager to hunt for birds that they have learned about. For example, they look through the 'British bird' cards and recognise birds that they have seen, such as a robin and blackbirds. Children enjoy learning about Shabbat and taste traditional foods,

such as challah bread. They say it looks like a 'plait'. This helps them to develop a superb understanding of the wider world. n The childminder provides a language-rich environment, where children's vocabulary increases rapidly. She uses a dynamic approach to storytelling that fully promotes the ways in which children are acquiring a love of books. This is highly evident as children sit around to hear and learn more about books. Children are exceptionally attentive and engrossed when listening to the story of

21 February 2020 'Owl Babies'. They concentrate with interest as the childminder explains and introduces new terms, such as 'author' and 'illustrator'. Children keenly talk about the characters that they know so well, for example the names of the baby owls and the mummy owl. Children show that they are very interested and ask for the story on an electronic device. They eagerly follow the story using the book. They turn the pages confidently and articulate what they already know about the story. Children very eagerly enjoy describing what their marks represent. They link sounds to letters and are learning to read and spell their names. n The childminder is an excellent role model. She helps children to learn how to manage their feelings. For example, she gives children strategies to use to help them to learn how to take turns. They take turns to roll each other in a stretchy material, pretending that they are the sausage and the material is the bread.

They giggle with excitement as they pretend to apply the sauces and laugh as they roll out. Children accept when their turn is finished, and they cooperate superbly, allowing their friends to have their turn. n Children benefit from excellent opportunities to further promote their good health. They love to make their own fruit skewers for snack, and sandwiches for lunch. They grow their own fruit and vegetables. This supports them effectively to understand healthy lifestyles and where their food comes from. The childminder organises her outdoor environment impressively to enable children to extend their learning outdoors. She supports children exceptionally well to develop their self-care skills, so they can independently manage their own personal needs. n Mathematical language and counting are incorporated extremely well into children's play and activities. For example, children repeat words such as

'enormous' and 'thicker'. They understand the names of complex shapes, such as hexagon and polygon, and know the number of sides they have. n The childminder is continually reflective. She actively seeks training and takes advice from other professionals to improve her already excellent practice. She shares information with other providers, where appropriate, such as the school and playgroup, which provides consistency in children's care and learning.
