and young people since the most recent full inspection

Since the last inspection, one child has moved on positively and staff remain in contact with them and communicate on a regular basis. The two children in placement are making good progress in many areas of their lives, including education, contact with family and friends and developing their independence skills. One young person said that his confidence had grown beyond his expectations since coming to live at the home and he wished that he could arrange a pay rise for the staff as they are so good to him. Children have good relationships with staff, who are passionate about advocating on the children’s behalf. The manager and staff could provide lots of examples where they have championed the children’s rights and secured appropriate decisions to improve their lives. Recent training on autism spectrum disorder traits, trauma-informed care and sexually harmful behaviours has increased the knowledge of the staff and helped them to

understand how to manage anxieties and other behaviour traits. The manager has noted the impact of this on some practice. The quality of the internal and external monitoring is good, and the recommendations made by the independent visitor are acted on. The evaluation made by the manager following the internal monitoring exercise is accurate and sets out clear recommendations to improve the quality of care provided. There have been no significant incidents, complaints or use of restraint since the last inspection. The manager made one appropriate notification to Ofsted and this incident was dealt with effectively. The manager and staff are aware of the risks facing the children in their care and are proactive in protecting them. They have made new contacts in the local community, are working with statutory agencies and undertaking informed direct work. In recent weeks, this work has reduced the number of times children are missing from the home.
