p.1
The provision is outstanding
The childminder is passionate and enthusiastic about his work. He works exceptionally well with his co-childminder and supports children to develop a strong sense of belonging. Children are happy and seek out the childminder actively to play games and share stories with him. They make choices about their play and explore and investigate enthusiastically the resources and the setting. Children benefit from a range of outings, for example to the local heath and the beach. They thoroughly enjoy building sandcastles, jumping in puddles and discovering objects through 'scavenger hunts'. These experiences provide excellent opportunities to increase children's understanding of the local natural environment.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
The childminder and his co-childminder are excellent role models. They skilfully help children to understand their emotions and share resources with their peers. The childminder uses opportunities during play to talk about and demonstrate feelings, such as being kind and caring for each other. For example, when children play with dolls, the childminder shows them how to be caring and give cuddles. Children engage fully in imaginary play and look after the sick and injured dolls. They pretend to administer medicine, put plasters on their sore body parts, and listen to each other's hearts using stethoscopes. Children behave extremely well and use good manners. Older children share resources willingly with their younger peers.

n The childminder has an excellent knowledge of the children. This is informed by his meticulous observation and assessment of children's interests, what they have learned and what they need to master next. The childminder implements individual planning across all areas of children's learning, both indoors and outdoors. n Children are exceptionally self-assured and show fascination, deep concentration and engagement during activities. For instance, they thoroughly enjoy deciding how to create their own pizza. Children select their own pizza toppings confidently from a healthy range of ingredients, cut them with a knife and spread sauce to create their pizza. The childminder makes use of opportunities to introduce to children the concept of time. He uses words such as 'days', 'hours' and 'minutes' to help children estimate how long it may take for the pizzas to cook through thoroughly. Children wait eagerly for the timer to indicate

when their pizzas are ready. n The childminder has a comprehensive understanding of the skills that underpin children's communication. He sings rhymes and reads books frequently, laying superb foundations for children's listening skills and awareness of how language

Parents speak highly of the childminder and his co-childminder. They value their input into their children's learning. For example, they state that the childminders are a 'fount of information' and share a wealth of helpful advice. For instance, they discuss effective strategies with parents to support children's toilet training at home. The childminder supplies parents with resources, toys and equipment, as well as information about the many ways they can promote learning. This enables parents to extend children's learning at home and support their progress. n The childminder has high expectations of what children can achieve. Children follow daily routines eagerly. They know the need to wash their hands before meals and have an excellent awareness of germs. Older children comment that

They reflect continually on the valuable service they provide for families. Both childminders are extremely dedicated to maintaining the outstanding care for children. They observe each other and suggest helpful strategies to enhance their already outstanding practice. n The childminder maintains an ambitious vision for his childcare service. He completes an extensive range of training opportunities and readily shares his knowledge with his co-childminder and other childminders in the area.
