Older children quickly recognise larger numbers. n Children's literacy skills are promoted exceptionally well from a young age. They respond enthusiastically to the many opportunities to look at books or be read to. The childminder reads in a very engaging way, skilfully adapting questions and comments to meet the differing needs of the children. They enjoy music and singing. exceptionally good understanding of healthy lifestyles. For example, they enjoy freshly cooked, nutritious meals and snacks each day. Younger children develop excellent levels of independence during activities. For example, they learn how to feed themselves using spoons and finger foods. n All children have excellent opportunities to extend and practise their physical skills outdoors in all weather. Children take exercise and challenge themselves on larger play equipment in the outdoor area or at local parks and facilities. For example, children are fascinated with the ice on the grass. They test different ways they can move on the grass and what will happen if they run. Children watch and feel the ice as it melts. n The childminder completes an extensive range of training opportunities and readily shares her knowledge with others.
