p.1
Acorn Homes (UK) Ltd
Monitoring visit Inspected under the social care common inspection framework
p.1
Information about this children's home
This is a privately-owned children’s home for up to five children. The statement of purpose details that children may have difficulties forming and sustaining relationships. They may also find it difficult to manage their emotions and this results in some challenging behaviour.
p.1
Information about this children's home
There has been no registered manager in post since May 2017.
p.1
This monitoring visit
This inspection was undertaken to monitor compliance with the restriction of accommodation notice served on 21 November 2019. The notice was issued because the registered provider notified Ofsted that in mid-November 2019 the registered manager and a number of staff had unexpectedly stopped working at the home.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The restriction notice was served to allow the organisation time to ensure that new staff being brought to work at the home would have time to get to know and understand the needs of the children currently living in the home, before a new child was admitted.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The requirements and recommendations from the last full inspection in November 2019 were not reviewed at this inspection. These requirements and recommendations will be reviewed at the home’s next inspection.
p.1
This monitoring visit
Since the restriction notice was served the organisation decided to temporarily close the home. All children living here moved to other homes that the organisation operates on 13 December 2019. Since then no child has lived at the home and the restriction notice is therefore met. Inspection report for children's home - monitoring visit: 1258199 2 Some progress in employing a full staff team has been made. However, at the time of this monitoring visit no newly recruited staff have started working in the home. Subject to full recruitment checks, a manager, deputy and three staff have been appointed and further interviews are to be held.
p.1
This monitoring visit
The organisation has a suitable training plan ready for the team. However, the responsible individual is uncertain that the plan to re-open the home in mid-March 2020 is achievable.
p.2
This monitoring visit
Despite making appointments to the role of manager the home has been without a registered manager since 17 May 2017.
