p.1
The provision is outstanding
Children flourish in the exceptionally welcoming and homely environment. They are extremely happy and excited to learn. Children have access to a wide variety of stimulating resources and play activities that follow their individual interests and stage of development. Children lead their own learning. They approach activities with positivity. For example, children competently cut up fruit and add their choice of milk to create smoothies. The childminder skilfully teaches children about the impact of waste on the environment. Children eagerly tell visitors about receiving milk from the milk man 'because plastic hurts the fishes'.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
Children are highly confident and articulately express themselves. The childminder values what children have to say and gives plenty of time for them to think and respond to questions. They demonstrate an exceptional knowledge and understanding of healthy lifestyles. Children enthusiastically share their thoughts and ideas. For example, they proudly tell visitors that 'vitamins give you energy' and explain energy is needed for 'riding your bike, running, jumping and scootering'.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
Children's behaviour is exemplary. The childminder is an excellent role model. She has exceedingly high expectations and talks to children calmly and reassuringly to help them fully understand rules and boundaries. Children respond well to high levels of praise for their individual achievements. To celebrate these achievements, they receive 'wow stars' from the childminder. They proudly share these with their parents and take them to show their teachers at the preschool they attend. This reinforces their positive behaviour and helps raise their confidence and self-esteem to an even higher level.

n The childminder provides an abundant range of activities and meticulously plans resources on offer to meet the needs of the range of children who attend. For example, when setting up mark-making activities, she ensures that older children have access to an exciting selection of different pens, cards and envelopes to support their early writing skills. Younger children are provided with colourful, chunky crayons and larger pieces of paper to ignite their creativity and support their handling and control of mark-making tools. n The childminder takes every opportunity to extend and challenge children's learning. She listens carefully to children's ideas and shares her thinking, introducing resources to further their learning. For example, as children proudly discuss their height, she suggests using the tape measure to compare sizes. Children excitedly take turns to measure each other and make comparisons,

30 January 2020 measured. They celebrate their understanding, cheering 'we are nearly the same'. n Children's early literacy skills are supported exceedingly well. Weekly trips to the library mean children have access to a great range of books and stories to support their learning. Children independently choose from a selection of fiction and non-fiction books to aid their learning. For example, after discussing the differences between where polar bears and penguins live, children search for a book to enhance their learning. Children delight in looking at pictures in books and carefully turn the pages, confidently naming animals such as a walrus. n The childminder is highly successful at providing children with a rich set of experiences to promote their understanding of the wider community and respect for people who are different to them. Children take part in festivals throughout the year and learn about other cultures. The childminder takes them to visit

different playgroups, the park, cafes, museums and events at the local school. These valuable first-hand experiences allow children to build their familiarity with the community and social confidence in preparation for school. n Partnerships with parents are exceptionally strong. The childminder keeps them incredibly well informed and involved in their children's learning. The childminder shares children's online learning records with parents and encourages them to share their experiences from home. Written comments express high levels of gratitude for the care and education the childminder provides for their children. They express that she 'goes above and beyond' to provide wonderful activities and state that their 'children adore her'. n The childminder liaises closely with health professionals, speech therapists and other settings children attend to ensure that she meets all children's needs. works closely with them and shares a wealth of information about children's progress and achievements. The childminder gathers information about children's learning to promote continuity and consistency when planning the curriculum within her provision. n The childminder demonstrates a genuine enthusiasm for her work and has exceptionally high standards for her childminding provision.
