p.1
The provision is outstanding
Children are exceptionally happy and settled in the childminder's kind and affectionate care. She works diligently with her co-childminder and assistant to ensure that children quickly settle and rapidly gain in confidence in her warm and homely setting. Children's superb behaviour, and focus on their chosen activities, shows that they feel completely safe and secure. The childminder successfully implements a clear set of simple rules that teach children to be caring and respectful to each other. All those working in the setting scrupulously model expected behaviours through their universally respectful and attentive interactions with the children and each other.
p.2
The provision is outstanding
The childminder, along with her co-childminder and their assistant, plans an extensive and exciting range of activities for the children. She gathers a wealth of information from parents during highly effective settling-in sessions. She uses this information to plan immediately to meet the needs of each individual child. The childminder is ambitious for all children to be 'happy, kind, confident citizens so that they can go out into the world and be successful'. She plans a curriculum that is sharply focused on providing children with both the emotional and intellectual skills they need. Where children are slower to develop in any area, she works diligently with parents and other professionals to identify and provide precisely what they need to progress. Consequently, all children make continuous progress and are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage in their learning. Parents highly value the childminder's approach to their children's learning and

n Partnerships with parents are superb. The childminder provides a wide range of support and information for parents. For example, she provides information about how to develop healthy sleep patterns and offers a lending library of reference and fiction books. Parents are effusive in their praise for the support that she gives them and their children. For example, they say that she provides children with 'a wonderful start in life' that prepares them to be ready to flourish when they start school. The childminder shares her precise and regular assessments of children's development and learning with parents, who have a clear understanding of her plans for their children. n The childminder takes every opportunity to support and extend children's developing speaking and listening skills. Children delight in singing songs and rhymes. The childminder encourages children who are shy to express their thoughts. For instance, she asks children to whisper in her ear and checks that

31 January 2020 she can share this information with the wider group. The childminder skilfully provides a narrative to the play of children in the very earliest stage of developing language. She fosters children's motivation to communicate as every attempt to speak, or communicate with body language, is rewarded with the childminder's full attention. n Children develop a love of books and stories as they snuggle up to be read to throughout the day. The childminder and her assistant read with animation, and their obvious enjoyment is infectious. The childminder grasps opportunities to support the children's thinking. For example, she acts out 'Incy Wincy Spider' and asks them to guess which nursery rhyme it is. Every child's contribution is acknowledged. The childminder teaches children about other languages and cultures, for example when they sing together in French and Polish. The childminder expertly introduces young children to mathematical concepts. For

example, she takes every opportunity to thread mathematical language through her playful interactions with children. n The childminder works diligently with her co-childminder and their assistant to evaluate the setting. For example, they complete learning walks together and assess whether they are successfully providing high-quality opportunities for children across all seven areas of learning. The childminder is ambitious to develop her provision. For example, following research, she is planning to further develop her extensive grounds to teach children about where their food comes from. The childminder shares her self-evaluation with parents and welcomes their input. The assistant is a valued, involved and respected member of staff. She fully understands the ambitions for the children and is highly effective in her role. n Children have plentiful opportunities to develop their physical skills and an

awareness of their bodies. For instance, they delight in moving to favourite songs and giggle as they point to the different parts of their bodies. The childminder takes children on walks around the grounds where they can run and climb, and they go on trips to local parks. The childminder offers healthy and nutritious meals. She uses food very effectively as an opportunity to explore other cultures through their cuisine.

Safeguarding
The arrangements for safeguarding are effective.
p.3
Safeguarding
The childminder has a thorough understanding of what is needed to keep children safe and well. She undertakes training to update her safeguarding knowledge and reviews this regularly with her assistant and co-childminder. She has a sound understanding of the signs that a child may be at risk of radicalisation. The childminder implements successful procedures to check the continued suitability of her assistant to work with children. She provides clear guidance to her assistant about how to recognise and report safeguarding concerns. The childminder is determined to take appropriate action should there be a concern, including reporting allegations about family members, should this become necessary.
